Dine About Starts Late in Prospector and Runs to October 31

The firepits on the Timbers patio at the Sheraton on Sidewinder Drive start a new job today. As of October 12, Timbers Bar & Restaurant is serving its Dine About menus: a $20 après special and a $45 three-course dinner, both running through October 31. It is the last restaurant near Prospector Square to begin its offers. Dine About itself has been running since October 1.

That timing shapes the whole neighborhood's October. The 14th Annual Dine About Park City usually reads as a Main Street event, and the Park Record's participant list opens there, with 350 Main, Bangkok Thai on Main and Flanagan's on Main. In Prospector, the event runs later and cheaper. Offers start in stages, every one runs to the last day of the month, and the most expensive dinner within a few blocks of Sidewinder Drive costs $45.

How the Pricing Works

The Park City Area Restaurant Association sets three price levels. Two-course lunches cost $15, $20 or $25. Three-course dinners cost $30, $45 or $65. Après specials cost $20. The Park Record describes the après specials as "$20 cocktails and small plates." Each restaurant posts its own prix-fixe offer, and the official listings say offers can't be combined with other discounts or promotions.

The size of the event depends on who's counting. The association's own Dine About page says "more than 30 restaurants." In the Park Record's announcement, association executive director Ginger Wicks describes "fresh, seasonal menus from nearly two dozen restaurants at a comfortable shoulder-season price point." She adds that the month gives "locals and visitors flexible dining options without the crowds."

Either way, the offers closest to Prospector cluster in the lower and middle price levels:

Restaurant Address Offer Dates
Squatters Roadhouse Grill & Bar 1900 Park Ave $15 two-course lunch; $30 three-course dinner Oct. 1–31
Twisted Fern 1300 Snow Creek Dr $45 three-course dinner Oct. 1–31
Luna's Kitchen & Juicery 1400 Snow Creek Dr $20 two-course lunch Oct. 5–31
Timbers Bar & Restaurant 1895 Sidewinder Dr $20 après; $45 three-course dinner Oct. 12–31
Silver Star Cafe 1825 Three Kings Dr $45 three-course dinner Oct. 1–31

Two price levels are missing from this list: the $25 lunch and the $65 dinner. For those you have to go elsewhere. The 7880 Club at Stein Eriksen Residences has the $25 two-course lunch, and Cena at The Chateaux Deer Valley has the $65 three-course dinner.

Most of the Mountain's Offers End Earlier

End dates matter more than start dates this year. According to the Park Record's list, 350 Main's dinner offer runs October 1–28. Both the 7880 Club and Cena run October 1–25. Every restaurant in the table above runs through October 31.

So the last week of October looks different depending on where you are. After the 25th, two of the higher-end Deer Valley offers are over. After the 28th, one of the Main Street dinners is over. From Sidewinder Drive and Snow Creek, the full list of offers in the table is still available on Halloween. Timbers started 11 days after the event opened, and its offers run all the way to the close.

What $45 Buys at Twisted Fern

Twisted Fern is the one restaurant near Prospector that has published a readable version of its menu. Its one-page PDF is labeled "Dine About 2026" and priced at $45. Each course has two choices:

  • First course: poached pear salad with local greens, brie mousse, champagne vinaigrette, pickled cranberries and spiced walnuts, or stuffed baby bell peppers with green romesco, black rice sofrito and golden raisin mostarda.
  • Second course: shrimp and gnocchi with saffron and sundried tomato bisque, spinach gnocchi, Gulf shrimp, pepper relish and a raw vegetable salad, or braised beef cheek with harissa demi-glace, braised yam medallions, a gastrique and matchstick potatoes.
  • Third course: orange cardamom posset with candied orange slices and citrus whipped cream, or local coconut sorbet.

Pear, cranberry, saffron and a braised cut give the menu a fall focus, and it makes the strongest local case for the $45 level. Timbers and Silver Star Cafe charge the same price, but their menu cards are posted as images on the association's site, so this post can't list their dishes. Each restaurant's offer page on parkcityrestaurants.com links to its current menu card.

Where the Lowest Prices Are

Price is where Prospector stands out most. The cheapest lunch on the whole Dine About scale is $15, and Squatters Roadhouse Grill & Bar at 1900 Park Ave offers it as a two-course lunch. Squatters also offers the cheapest dinner, a $30 three-course menu. Up the street, Luna's Kitchen & Juicery at 1400 Snow Creek Dr began its $20 two-course lunch on October 5.

Put these together and you can eat through a whole day within a few addresses: a $15 or $20 lunch near Snow Creek, $20 après at Timbers and a $30 or $45 dinner. Squatters is the only nearby spot with both a lunch and a dinner offer. Timbers has both an après and a dinner offer, and it opens early. Its Monday hours on the association's listing are 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., then 3 to 10 p.m.

The Timbers listing describes the place as "Park City's Hotel bar, bold bites, live music." It also mentions a large outdoor seating area with games and firepits, which are useful on an October evening. Reservations go through OpenTable.

A Nightcap Off the Dine About List

Dine About covers most of a night in Prospector, but not a late drink. The newest bar in the neighborhood isn't a participant. The Parlor, a 24-seat cocktail bar and lounge, opened in May through what the Park Record called "an unassuming door on the side of Lespri in Prospector."

Owner Dan Warren told the Park Record that he built the bar for the people who live nearby. "The bar is for locals," the paper reported, and tourists "aren't the intended audience here." He opened in spring, a slow time of year in town, and said that didn't worry him. He said in the same article that his friends who live in Prospector were not going anywhere just because it was shoulder season, and that they were the bar's intended audience.

The opening menu leaned on classics, according to the Park Record: an old-fashioned, a pisco sour, a Manhattan, a paper plane and a martini with blue cheese-stuffed olives. Warren told the paper his goal was to serve the strongest drinks Utah law allows, which means 2.5 ounces of alcohol in every cocktail.

TownLift reported in May that The Parlor opens at 4 p.m. daily. It closes at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at midnight on weekends. Those hours date from opening month, so check the bar's website before planning a late night.

How the Rest of October Lines Up

Today's start at Timbers changes the order of the neighborhood's remaining weeks:

  1. Now through October 25: Every price level near Prospector is available, from the $15 Squatters lunch to the $45 dinners at Twisted Fern, Timbers and Silver Star Cafe. The 7880 Club's $25 lunch and Cena's $65 dinner are still running if you want to try a level the neighborhood doesn't offer.
  2. October 26 through 28: Those two offers have ended. 350 Main's dinner offer has three days left.
  3. October 29 through 31: All five offers in the table are still running, and Timbers' après special is one of the few $20 offers on the calendar that started only this week.

Whichever week you pick, the same restriction applies everywhere. Dine About offers can't be stacked with any other discount or promotion.
